ukay-ukay shops in the metro like mushrooms on rotting wood

These thrift shops, more popularly known as the ukay-ukay shops, have been sprouting around the country like mushrooms on rotting wood.

Now why the harsh comparison?

The Philippines, I believe, has more potential than selling and using smuggled stuff, from used clothing to factory rejected bags and hats and other stuff you can only imagine. Thus the fashion industry has produced a rotting branch upon it’s supposedly flourishing tree. Why would we want what others have thrown and given away?

True, we are a poor country, but we can at least focus on other greater investments than the infamous ukay-ukay.
